Every year on the date of that event (Nov. 11, 1938), the City of Berlin organizes a large ceremony of high school students, in which the students present drama and music excerpts that relate to the event. Hundreds of students from several schools participate in the event. In that year I was invited by the mayor to tell the story of my family. A teacher in one of the schools has informed me later that she included my speech in the yearbook alumni of the school receive upon graduation.
